. Patrick Williams is Emeritus Professor of Spanish History at the University of Portsmouth. He has written extensively on Spanish history and his other books include ARMADA ('Absorbing, intelligent an original, wide-ranging narrative' BBC HISTORY MAGAZINE) and PHILIP II ('Up-to-date and sound' GEOFFREY PARKER, author of THE SPANISH ARMADA)Not only is it GORGEOUS--the photography is really phenomenal--and not only is the author gorgeous too (and British! His BBC show is on Youtube and he's got that great accent!) but the recipes really, truly work! I made the sore throat recipe and found it instantly soothing. She could be provocative when she wanted to, defiantly ordering a new livery adorned with the letters H and K for her servants, although her marriage was dissolved and Anne Boleyn was already crowned! The author's mastery of the available evidence is clear from his admirably well-formed chapters. He lives in Southsea. He has written extensively on Spanish history and his other books include ARMADA ('Absorbing, intelligent an original, wide-ranging narrative' BBC HISTORY MAGAZINE) and PHILIP II ('Up-to-date and sound' GEOFFREY PARKER, author of THE SPANISH ARMADA)The heroic and dignified first wife of Henry VIII who was cast aside for reasons of dynastic ambition, but who resolutely and unbendingly stuck to her principles and her dignity at enormous cost to herself.Catherine’s story tells so much about the exercise of power, and about being married to a lover who became – slowly but perceptibly – a tyrant in public life and a monster in his private affairs.. She lived through traumatic and revolutionary times and her personal drama was played out against dramas of global significance. • A major new biography of Catherine of Aragon by an acknowledged expert of Spanish and Tudor history.
• Author’s last Tudor book ARMADA very well received: ‘Absorbing, intelligent… an original, wide-ranging narrative’ BBC HISTORY MAGAZINE.
• Amazingly, the first biography ever to make use of records in the Spanish royal archives.
